Two Wrongs make a “Shut the Fuck up!”

Recently, following the Michael Vick proceedings, there have been a spate of articles that discuss things that are so much worse then torturing dogs until they fight each other, for profit.  I won’t link to them, find ‘em yourself.  Things like wife beating, canned hunting, veal production, and so on.

Now, as hunter and the scion of ranching family, I can say with all righteousness the following: all of those things are wrong.

But that is irrelevant.

The fact that those things are wrong does not take away from the casual brutality of what Vick has been accused of.  And the fact that Vick is being called to answer for his brutality does not mean that all of those who are even more cruel should be ignored.  Which is the implication of those opinion pieces.

Perhaps there is overmuch attention being paid to this crime, especially in light of more serious wrongs in the world.  But this was a heinous crime, and it deserves appropriate punishment.
