Barking up the wrong tree.

In the ever increasingly popular interweb parlance, Democrats = Fail.

The most recent attempt to gain political hay without doing anything is the investigation into Blackwater.

Now, a convincing argument can be made that mercenaries are anti-American.  And I have previously blogged about how the occupation of Iraq is the creation some kind of free market wet dream, where the free is free from competition.

But Blackwater isn’t a mercenary company, they are a security company.  They aren’t fighting our war, they’re protecting our citizens.

And they do it well.  They do it well  by being aggressive.  The fact the level of aggression necessary is so high serves as an indictment of the Strategy.

That does not make it wrong.  Blackwater has not lost a single protectee, that at least implies that their policy are working.

You can talk about lack of accountability, but that is a separate issue from tactics.

So why do the Democrats = fail?  Because the meta message their sending is that violence to protect Americans is wrong.  They couch it in terms of a disregard for human life, but the overall message may be something different.

And if the meta message is violence is inappropriate, then that feeds the overall message that Democrats are weak.

Oh, they’re not.  This is simply another example of the inabilities of the Dems to combat the Republican’s “Tough on Terror” veneer.  Claiming that the Republicans are being too tough on terror is not a way to win.  Claiming that they are ignoring the real problem, wasting American live, tax dollars, and military ability is a winner.

But what do I know.
