Politics make strange bedfellows. Strange, heavily armed bedfellows.
Now, it should be apparent to everyone that there are problems with terrorist watch lists. Namely, you end up on them if you haven’t done anything, and it’s really hard to get off of them.
Now some want gun purchases to be checked against terrorist watchlists. And coming as a surprise to no one, the NRA disapproves.
Now, I foresee a grand alphabet alliance, the ACLU-NRA, will rise up to defeat this measure.
Right.
However, it is an interesting predicament. Watchlists are arguably a violation of the concept of “Innocent till proven Guilty,” since it creates restrictions and prohibitions without any kind of Due Process. So get angry libs. But it is a gun control measure. Get angry cons.
